betamethasone

The drug Betamethasone is typically available in foam, ointment, a topical gel or cream form. It is also available in the form of lotions and mainly used to treat conditions of eczema. Eczema is a condition of the skin characterized by severe itching. Often, Betamethasone is combined with sodium phosphate for usage in intramuscular injections. If you have had an allergic reaction to plants like poison ivy or similar plant forms then this kind of an injection would be administered to you.

How it works
Betamethasone stimulates the maturation of lungs in the fetus. It is essentially a corticosteroid and prevents mortality rates because of intracranial hemorrhages. This is quite prevalent amongst premature infants and this is where Betamethasone is primarily used for treatment. Skin irritations are easily alleviated by using the topical creams or gels available with Betamethasone active pharmaceutical ingredients in them. There is also a tablet form available in Japan where eczema rashes can be removed completely in 24 hours. Thus, the tablet form of Betamethasone is more effective when compared to the ointment form. In the case of phimosis conditions in young boys, Betamethasone can prevent it and can also prevent any requirement for circumcision. The sodium phosphate combination of Betamethasone is used in oral administrations as well as via injections just like other steroids.

Side effects
One of the predominant side effects associated with Betamethasone is that it can cause risk to the fetus. The active pharmaceutical ingredients in Betamethasone are needed to cross the placental region in order to derive the positive effects. However, this can also result in complications like leucocytosis or hypoglycemia in the fetus. If the newborn is exposed inside the utero these side effects can easily manifest.

Ezetimibe

By inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol inside the intestine, the active pharmaceutical ingredients in this drug help combat cholesterol levels. If the patient is unable to tolerate any other medications to reduce cholesterol then such drugs like Ezetimibe are used in isolation. Various statins may also be combined with Ezetimibe to produce common drugs under brand names of Inegy or Vytorin. Some of the common side effects associated with extended usage of these active pharmaceutical ingredients include headaches, gastro-intestinal imbalances, fatigue, reactions pertaining to hypersensitivity, rashes, increased creatine kinase, pancreatitis, arthralgia, myalgia, hepatitis, cholelithiasis, thrombocytopenia etc. By binding to the agent, which causes cholesterol absorption, Ezetimibe works by inhibiting excess cholesterol levels inside the body. A specific protein in the gastrointestinal epithelial walls aids in cholesterol absorption. A reduced absorption rate of cholesterol results in upregulation in LDL kinds of receptors
